Shimla Chapter
The Shimla Chapter of Public Relations Society of India was established in the year 2006. Public Relations professionals, Public Relations practitioners of Centre and State Government organisations, Public Sector Undertakings and Private Sector, Faculty members and Students of Journalism and Mass Communication are its members.
The Chapter has been actively working for the professional excellence and create awareness about issues of National and Social importance by organizing various events from time to time. The aim of the Shimla Chapter is to provide, formulate and interpret to the public the objectives of public relations as a strategic management function which will help them establish and maintain mutual lines of communication, understanding, acceptance and cooperation between the organisation and the public.
The Shimla Chapter is regularly organizing conferences, seminars, workshops, symposiums, and colloquiums on various aspects of public relations creating a wide network for members to enhance their knowledge and skills. It has organised a national level conference on ‘Communication Strategies on Travel and Tourism’ in 2012 which was attended by more than 300 national and international participants. It was an earnest effort to showcase the State of Himachal Pradesh from tourism point of view. Among other events organised by the Chapter include: North Zone conference on ‘Role of Public Relations in Good Governance’, colloquium on ‘Fundamental Duties’, seminar on ‘Importance of Media in Serving the Society’ and symposium on ‘Importance of Exercising Franchise in Democracy’. The Chapter is also hosting a two-day North Zone Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility: Corporate Communication on 4-5 October 2014.
The Shimla Chapter has been given the Best Chapter Award thrice during the years 2009, 2010, and 2011 by the Public Relation Society of India.
